Lighten Up-Drop Insecurity and Doubt

I want each and every one of you to recognize that you have awesome talents. Now don't you deny it, or make excuses, because you've definitely got them.

Appreciation of your own talents and gifts might just require an attitude shakedown. Maybe you know they're inside you and yet you keep quiet about it.  Insecurity and doubt are two friends you don't want to have. I should know, I've been on that yo-yo ride for a long time but I'd like to say each day I feel stronger about kicking them to the curb. 

How do I do it?  Probably the same way you do, I find my community, my tribe, and within the safety and laughter, I LIGHTEN UP and let go of the need for perfection or fear of failure. 

Take your imaginary binoculars and zoom in on your talents; ZOOM IN closely and you'll see that you have many talents. Now find a way to appreciate them. Laugh about them, celebrate them, nurture and allow them to grow.

If you're reading this and a little voice is saying "I can't think of a single talent, and we've all had many of those days, then I say to you, that you're looking TOO BIG. 'Cast the net' closer to home so you can step into APPRECIATION.  Maybe instead of feeling disappointment about not having a record deal or earning a living with your music, maybe appreciate that you play really well, or that you support other musicians or that your fingers move faster on the keyboard than before.

Somewhere we get caught in the COMPARISON TRAP and it can feel pretty stifling. Facebook, and social media in general, can really send you deep into that place of 'I'm not good enough'.

The secret sauce is to look at what you DO have going for yourself, not what's MISSING, because if there's one thing I know for sure is that if you focus on what's missing you'll just get more of the same. You've got this!

WiFi Detox?

We live in an 'ENERGY' SOUP. Electromagnetic energy is everywhere: radio and TV signals, modems, cordless phones, cell phone signals, smart meters, baby monitors, Bluetooth enabled devices, computers, satellites, tablets and let's not forget the Sun and stars all give off energy, electromagnetic radiation, and are all part of our lives.These energy signals are hard to avoid, especially in urban centres. Our CARS are even pulling in these signals and young children are exposed to them in WIRELESS CLASSROOMS as well as at home. It's getting hard to escape them.

For the most part, we SEEM to be doing okay.

BUT

When all the electromagnetic energy gets to be too much or too chaotic-picture a tangled mess of wires-our energy can become off-balance and scattered, our stress ramps up and our ability to heal is stifled. It's hard to be calm when our energy is scrambled and bombarded.

Living organisms strive for HOMEOSTASIS; we strive for BALANCE and equilibrium.

So what should we do?

Turn OFF the modem? Go back to wired devices? MAYBE, yes.
What about my bluetooth speaker and whatever will I do without Netflix...and should I turn off my cell phone? I just cut my landline!

RESEARCH: I started scouring through the online research, which was tricky because most of it is really out of date. I eventually found a very thorough report at bioinitiative.org, so if you want to investigate updated (2007, 2012 and 2017) and COMPELLING RESEARCH head over to that website.

Some of it was way over my head as far as interpreting the results, but the overall message was pretty clear-we need to demand the maximum allowed exposure levels (from towers, phones, our devices) to be much LOWER frequencies, and reclassify these radio frequencies as a human carcinogen.

CBC’s Marketplace TV Show

Wendy Mesley of CBC's show Marketplace aired a documentary On March 24, 2017, The Secret Inside Your Phone: Cellphone safety and testing. Here's the link, I highly recommend you watch it.  The bottom line-keep your cellphone off your body.

With technology changing so rapidly and the internet of things continually expanding I feel the need to pull back and take a CLOSER LOOK at the effects it might have on all living things.
For now, I'm going to pay a little more attention to my exposure (especially while I'm sleeping) and TURN OFF more devices. 

My big take away? The SECRET for EMF health is PROXIMITY (to the source) and DURATION (of exposure)Try to get some distance and turn it off, or maybe get out in nature-away from cell phone towers if you can.

What's with the news? TV newscasts (and news channels) seem to be worse than radio broadcasts and radio is worse than newspapers. What am I talking about? Bad news. So, how does our BRAIN feel about watching the news?

The Merriam -Webster definition of the word NEWS is:  
a a report of recent events
b previously unknown information
c something having a specified influence or effect

This definition seems fairly harmless and neutral; news isn't only BAD. Why then are newscasts generally so negative and stressful?

Our eyes and ears are taking in 'STRESS MESSAGES' and, even though we're usually far removed from the events, we humans will be experiencing, connecting, sensing and feeling them. I can almost feel my brain bending toward judgement, negativity, outrage, shock, fear and stress.

You might be THINKING that it's important to know what's going on in the world and I may be WONDERING if I'm taking things too seriously or overreacting, but for the most part the news doesn't really influence me enough to take action, to grow. 

There are 7.4 BILLION PEOPLE on the planet, many of whom move through their lives creating, designing, inspiring, discovering, assisting, loving, inventing and exploring, and the newscasts can barely muster up a couple of feel good stories-one of which tends to be the latest viral video from YouTube or Facebook. Here's a RHETORICAL QUESTION, and a topic for another day, does a newscast's content get built by ratings?

Okay, I don't want to live with my head in the sand but lately I've become more AWARE of what I feed my brain and as a seeker of NEWS I want it to nudge me forward in my life. 
As I look for BETTER BALANCE I think I'll turn the TV off!

Go On, Dream It!

What do you want to be when you GROW UP?
Children have no problem telling you that they want to be an astronaut, ballet dancer, inventor, or a pilot.
I know that when I dare to dream BIG my logical brain runs a laundry list of why it's not possible and I hit a wall. Done. GAME OVER!

RE-BOOT. Let's try that again. If I could do/create/participate in anything at all, and I include the possibility that there may be something that isn't discovered or invented yet, what would it be? I don't know about you but I need to PRACTISE thinking this way. I need to work on listening and acknowledging how my steps feel because when I do I can steer my boat and get into the FLOW of my life which is a lot better than working so hard paddling against it.

Keep in mind that the only way to keep that WALL from cropping up is to bring your dream to where you are now, and TAKE A STEP in the direction of it. ONE STEP is all it takes to see how it FEELS. If  it doesn't feel right then choose something else.
